Hi Dev Diff Family,

Over the past few months, we’ve been doing a lot of planning at The Dev Difference—not just about product, but about purpose.

We started this company because we were tired of watching talented people get passed over for reasons that had nothing to do with their ability. Recruiting in the tech industry was full of riddles, gatekeeping, and checking boxes.

We initially focused on interview prep to break barriers to high-quality jobs. But over the past year and a half, we’ve been listening to candidate stories and ideas, and we realized our purpose goes beyond teaching the status quo.

That’s why we’re excited to share three major updates:

1️⃣ First, our interview prep tool is now completely free for users.

We believe preparing for your future shouldn’t come with a paywall. We’ve created interview packs for roles like software engineering, data science, and product management—and if we haven’t built yours yet, you can use our custom-role option to generate one on the spot. If you’re putting in the effort, we want to meet you there.

2️⃣ Second, we’re building a new way for companies to evaluate talent--a more fair and holistic approach to interview assessments.

We hear the stories of months on end in application portals, never making it to the interview. We know there is amazing talent out there, and we want to help companies see it.

Our new assessment platform reflects how people actually think and work. No more algorithm marathons or random brain teasers. We’re creating role-relevant interview experiences that combine behavioral and technical questions in one, and we’re making sure to keep fairness and integrity a part of every interview experience. That means anti-AI cheating measures, structured rubrics, and space for candidates to show who they are—not just what they’ve memorized. Our assessments help companies see candidates true skills, values, teamwork, hard work, commitment, and ability to thrive in the role.

3️⃣ You might have noticed the new flower in our logo.

The Bird of Paradise flower is a symbol we chose to represent growth, individuality, and boldness. We want to do more than just help candidates grow, we want to see candidates be bold, be seen, and stand out.

Every message you’ve sent, testimonial about your success, and story you've told us about an arduous interview process has helped shape what we build. We have a real opportunity to change the way companies hire, so thank you for playing a part in that.

If you’re out there preparing, keep going. Keep practicing. Keep sharing The Dev Difference with your friends, your community, your job. We’re just getting started!
